Hi, I’m Joy Allovio.
Anxiety and Trauma therapist in Waco, Texas and online throughout Texas.
Hi, I’m Joy
Are you an adult women who feels anxious, overwhelmed, or stuck in your own head? Maybe you feel like you’re managing everything on the outside, but feel out of control on the inside. Many women I see are capable and thoughtful, yet feel tired, unsure, or disconnected from what they want and need.
I help slow things down and focus on understanding how your body and mind respond to stress. Together, we work on easing the patterns that keep you feeling on edge, help you feel safer in your body, calmer in your relationships, and more confident in yourself. Therapy with me is supportive, collaborative, and grounded in both science and compassion. It’s a space where you can finally feel understood and make lasting change.
If you’re ready for support that helps you understand why you do what you do, and feel what you feel, you’re in the right place.
I work with women who are tired of the endless worry and doubting thoughts, and want support in feeling calmer, less frazzled, and more confident in themselves.
I’m Joy Allovio, a licensed counselor in Waco, TX. I provide therapy in person here in Waco and virtually across Texas. I work with women who are ready for a change. I work with women who want to feel less anxious, less stuck in their heads, and more like themselves again.
I became a therapist because I’ve seen how much early experiences and relationships shape the way we show up in the world. Our little child brains learn a certain way to feel safe in the world that’s not always good. Many women learn to be responsible, accommodating, or emotionally strong without realizing how much their mind and body is still trying to keep them safe. Anxiety, people-pleasing, and self-doubt aren’t flaws, they’re survival strategies your body and mind learned over time.
Healing happens when we stop pushing ourselves to do more and instead learn to respond with curiosity, create safety from the inside, and reconnect with what feels real and true for you.
In therapy with me, we focus on what matters most to you, exploring things like:
How your body and mind respond to stress and connection
How your mind comes up with endless worry thoughts that wear you out
Patterns in relationships and self-trust that might be holding you back
Past emotional experiences that still show up in your day-to-day life
Gentle ways to process, regulate, and integrate these experiences
I incorporate EMDR, somatic awareness, and relational work all at a pace that feels safe, supportive, and sustainable.
My style
You can make changes that actually stick, with the right support.
When anxiety, self-doubt, or difficult memories show up in your life, you want someone who listens and helps you make sense of what you’re feeling, not someone who just tells you to breathe. Therapy with me is about understanding how your body and mind respond to stress, noticing thoughts that keep you stuck, and building ways to help you feel calmer, more in control, and more like yourself. We work together to:
Understand why your mind and body react the way they do
Explore patterns in relationships, self-doubt, or anxiety that keep showing up
Find practical ways to cope, regulate, and feel safer in your own life
Move through past experiences in a way that feels safe and sustainable
You don’t have to figure this out alone. My goal is to make therapy feel supportive, approachable, and tailored to what you actually need. This isn’t a “one-size-fits-all” approach.
