FAQs

  • Anxiety can show up in a lot of different ways. Most people don’t realize they’re dealing with anxiety until they start noticing patterns in their thoughts, emotions, or body.

Here are some signs you could be experiencing anxiety:

    1.      Your mind feels constantly “on.” You might have racing thoughts, or replay conversations in your head, or worry about things that haven’t happened yet.

    2.      Your body might feel uncomfortable. Your chest might feel tights, you might feel restless, or not be able to sleep at night.

    3.      You may feel a constant pressure to do everything right. You might feel like you’re not good enough, or you fear disappointing others.

    4.      You avoid things. You avoid being in social situations for fear of being judged. You might feel overwhelmed with simple tasks.

  • Generalized Anxiety (GAD):
This has an ongoing worry about everyday things like work, relationships, or the future. You feel like you’re worrying about everything all the time. Your mind feels busy, and your body often feels tense or tired.

    Social Anxiety:
This anxiety is a fear of being judged by or embarrassed around others. It might make you overthink conversations or avoid social situations.

    Panic Disorder:
This disorder causes sudden waves of intense fear or physical symptoms like a racing heart, shortness of breath, feeling like you’re going to die or like something terrible is happening.

    Obsessive–Compulsive Disorder (OCD):
This disorder causes Intrusive thoughts that are unwanted and feel scary. Also, there are  repetitive behaviors or mental rituals to try to feel safer or “fix” things. For example, making sure everything is symmetrical, or rechecking you locked the door, etc.

These are just a few ways anxiety can be present in your life.

  • We will start by working with your nervous system and notice what your body is feeling when you feel relaxed, overwhelmed, and when you feel like shutting down. Once we notice those triggers and sensations, we will start to notice the situations you are in and the thoughts you have in those situations. We will work to see how the situation affects you and how to think and/or act differently to lower your anxiety. Sometimes we may work on breathing. When we get anxious, we don’t notice it, but we are taking shallow breaths which tells our brain and body that we aren’t safe. By taking slower, deeper breaths, our body and mind realize that we are safe and it helps us calm down.

  • The first step is to call for a free 15 minute consultation. You can ask me everything  to make sure we are a good fit. Then, we will meet weekly to discuss what is troubling you and make a plan forward for how to get you back to living life well.

Anxiety and self doubt don’t have to be your story. I can help.
